Karel Landman Street, Dundee
Karel Landman Street (Provincial Main Road 34-1) is the main street through the town of Dundee connecting the town with Newcastle, Ladysmith, Glencoe, Vryheid, Melmoth and Pomeroy. Traffic is heavy, both in volume and vehicle size and the existing road was in poor condition, urgently requiring rehabilitation and widening to form a right-turn lane to cater for the many accesses.
The cost to rehabilitate the 1,8km section from the Glencoe intersection to the heart of the CBD was some R15mill.
Sukuma Consulting Engineers were appointed to undertake the design and supervise the construction and the project was funded by Endumeni Municipality (using MIG funds) with a contribution from KZN-DoT
